Trustee Governance - Volunteer

We are seeking a new Trustee to provide strategic oversight and governance for Heaven's Playground Org. The ideal candidate has prior Trustee experience or brings diversity to the board.

As a Trustee, you will shape the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring it remains ethical, sustainable, and compliant with charity law. Your responsibilities include safeguarding legal and ethical operation, maintaining financial integrity, and driving strategic planning that enlarges our reach and impact.

• Guarantee ethical and legal operation of the charity
• Ensure all policies comply with charity law and protect the organization from risk
• Oversee financial stewardship, managing funds responsibly and maintaining donor trust
• Set strategic direction, deciding on new programs and allocating resources to maximize impact
• Safeguard the core mission of Heaven's Playground Org, keeping all activities focused on supporting the bereaved community
• Drive high‑level decisions on strategy, diversity, and inclusion to improve future effectiveness
• Inject vital diversity and insight by representing the community and ensuring inclusive policies
• Leverage professional expertise (e.g., midwifery, bereavement counselling) to ground strategy in real‑world experience

• Legal & Governance experience in charity law, policy making, and compliance
• Accounting & Finance knowledge of charity accounting, financial oversight, and risk management
• Bereavement work experience such as midwives, bereavement counsellors, palliative care specialists, or social workers

• Age diversity – welcoming candidates aged 18‑35 for fresh perspectives on communication and engagement
• Ethnic background diversity – representing a broad range of backgrounds to ensure inclusive governance
• Loss experience – those who have experienced significant loss, including baby loss, and understand broader grief contexts

• Knowledge of loss – a deep, genuine understanding or empathy for the grief process
• Commitment to governance – the ability to dedicate time to strategic planning, oversight, and maintaining the charity’s mission

All Trustees play a pivotal role in leading the charity’s movement, ensuring Heaven's Playground Org continues to grow its reach and impact for decades to come.
