Family Service Worker

We are looking for a Family Service Worker at Floor One, Delamere House, CW1 2JZ
. This is an initial temporary contract with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate, at a rate negotiable dependent upon experience.
- Work in partnership across Children's Services and with other agencies to deliver a suite of programmes that are targeted and co-ordinated.
- Enable families to receive appropriate and timely interventions across the 0-19 age continuum at a time and place that makes sense to these families by planning delivering and reviewing interventions as appropriate.
- Deliver a comprehensive range of evidence based programmes, making appropriate use of supervision and training to develop skills and knowledge.
- Collect relevant data to ensure performance management systems facilitate a needs led approach.
- Identify and support children and families experiencing difficulties at an early stage, assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of services to ensure that they are meeting the needs of individuals and families enabling service delivery that encourages empowerment.
- Actively seek and act upon the views of service users.
- Undertake holistic assessments of family situations using the relevant assessment tools and plan, deliver and review individual programmes of support; ensuring that 'vulnerable' children and young people, especially those families who are harder to reach, are prioritised in terms of receipt of services.
- Maintain effective record systems to enable the preparation of necessary reports as requested.
- Understand and comply with statutory requirements, departmental policies, equal opportunities and other regulations and procedures.
- Escalate and seek advice on any issues relating to safeguarding.
- NVQ level 3 in Childcare, or equivalent (e.g. BTEC Nursery Nursing, Level 3 certificate in EYFS practice etc.*)
- Grade A-C GCSEs, or equivalent, including English and Maths
- Evidence of continuous professional development accessing relevant training
- Experience in the use of a range of programmes and interventions that are outcome focussed to support service users
- Experience of undertaking multiagency CAF assessments of child/family needs
- Experience of undertaking accurate and timely recording of a wide variety of sensitive, confidential and/or complex information, including risk assessments
- Some experience of working with children, young people, parents and carers
- Experience of working with parents and delivering support in a group-work setting
- Experience of working 1-2-1 in a family home or working with groups of parents/carers to deliver specific packages of work
- Experience of partnership working
- Clear knowledge and understanding of child development stages and the impact of external/internal factors on development (including domestic violence, disability, drugs, alcohol and mental health awareness etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding procedures, processes, policies and best practice
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and freedom of information responsibilities and requirements
- Awareness of legislation relevant to role, including Children's Act and Disability Discrimination Act etc.
- Analytical and problem solving skills - able to devise, implement and review individual care plans for children/families
- Good ICT skills - including proficient in use of databases and/or Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Good literacy and numeracy - with ability to produce clear written plans and reports
- Able to understand and comply with legislation (including data protection act etc.) Able to organise own workload in response to changing and competing demands
- Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team to achieve objectives
- Developed verbal and written communication skills - able to exchange complex/sensitive information with a range of audiences, including non[1]specialists, in a clear and concise manner
