An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic Principal Teacher of our Intensive Support Provision.

Crieff High School currently has a roll of approximately 630 young people. Working together we strive to help all young people be the best they can. We aim to provide a positive learning environment for pupils and staff and our school vision is “A rights respecting school that nurtures, encourages and inspires young people to be the best they can be.”

Crieff High School can be found in the heart of Strathearn, and our School is part of Strathearn Community Campus. With many different partners operating from the campus including, Live Active Leisure and Culture Perth and Kinross, the opportunities available to both pupils and staff are well received. Our school catchment covers a wide area of beautiful landscapes and is a short commute from both Perth and Stirling of 30-40 minutes.

In this role you will provide strategic leadership and management of the Intensive Support Provision at Crieff High School, ensuring that young people with additional support needs receive high-quality, inclusive, and personalised learning experiences.

The successful postholder will lead and support staff in creating a nurturing, safe, and ambitious environment that enables learners to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Working collaboratively with families, partner agencies, and school staff, the Principal Teacher will promote inclusion, raise attainment and achievement, and ensure that the needs of all learners are effectively identified and met in line with local and national priorities.

This role is central to developing and sustaining an inclusive school culture where every young person is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate will have appropriate qualifications and registration.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of excellent classroom practice and improving outcomes for learners.
  • Experience of supporting young people with a range of additional support needs, including social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs.
  • The ability to lead, motivate and support colleagues to deliver high-quality, inclusive learning experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people, families, staff and partner agencies.
  • A sound understanding of Additional Support for Learning legislation, GIRFEC and inclusive practice within Scottish education.
  • The ability to analyse and use data effectively to monitor progress, evaluate impact and inform improvement planning.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond flexibly to changing needs.
  • A commitment to nurturing approaches, restorative practice and promoting positive relationships across the school community.
