Job Summary

Patuxent Materials, Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced Dispatcher to join our team. Duties for this position include providing an excellent customer service experience, managing order intake, working with drivers to successfully dispatch services and ensure delivery, recording and managing resource assignments, inventories, and availability.

One (1) year of experience in dispatch or a closely related field or a combination of experience and education emphasizing transportation/logistics, customer relations and computer systems. Experience with transportation dispatch software or similar computer applications preferred.

• Compiles and maintains a list of available trucks
• Assigns vehicles/trucks to workload according to factors such as body type, driver ability, seniority
• Prepares delivery tickets and related shipping documents and assigns drivers for scheduled deliveries
• Directs activities of drivers using Dispatch software
• Communicates with customers, taking orders for aggregate products
• Quotes prices and takes orders for COD customers, often recommending type and quantity of material to be used
• Enters orders into Dispatch software
• Records any information pertinent to delivery of the loads such as holding time, person present on job site or not, etc.
• Confers with various plants to determine product availability
• Uses maps to determine job site locations
• Maintains records of mileage, fuel used, hours worked and revenue for each driver

• Experience in fast paced dispatch environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to process paperwork associated with delivery of loads

• Proficient in Microsoft Office
