About Benchmark

Benchmark Companies is a seller and installer of landscape, playground (EWF), and pine mulch products. We are seeking candidates for an open Business Development position that will be responsible for initiating and growing relationships with clients that have a need for bulk pine product or engineered wood fiber installation.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be self-directed, possess high integrity and a strong work ethic. If you have strong character, sales aptitude and are familiar with the landscape contracting business or bulk organic materials, we are interested in talking to you!

This business development candidate will promote and be accountable for consistent sales growth, profitability and customer relationship management in the Eastern part of Tennessee (Crossville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga) where they will focus on selling playground engineered wood fiber (EWF) and bulk pine products as used by plant nurseries.

Job Responsibilities
  • Identify new prospects for pine product sales and playground surfacing
  • Continue driving growth with existing clients
  • Maintain a high level of service for all current clients
  • Maintain detailed records of interactions with clients in Benchmark’s customer database
  • Communicate client feedback to the team to influence change within the organization
Qualifications / Skills
  • Ability to close a sale
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high‑pressure environment
  • Ability to identify prospects, determine solutions for their needs, and convert them to clients
  • Demonstrated project / budget management skills
  • Ability to solve problems and think quickly under pressure
  • Ability to resolve conflict
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of sales or business development in a related industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Appropriate response to customer issues or complaints
  • Strong organizational skills
