Construction Estimator/Project Manager (Onsite)

Role at Denk & Roche Carpentry
, located in Crown Point, Indiana. Reporting to the President, this onsite position requires a detail‑oriented individual with grit and determination. The role oversees financial budgets, coordinates contractors, and manages the construction process, including scheduling, subcontractor buy‑outs, and client communication.
This is not a remote position
. Candidate must live within commuting distance; no relocation assistance is provided for out‑of‑state applicants.

• Estimator
  • Estimate selected projects by reviewing blueprints and drawings, taking take‑offs, receiving pricing proposals, and providing detailed bid estimates.
  • Review project documents and include any scope items.
  • Incorporate general contractor scope sheets and project schedules.
  • Communicate with customers during the bid process to ensure expectations are met.
  • Obtain project‑specific pricing from material and equipment vendors.
  • Provide detailed information on specialty products for review.
  • Review the project with the construction manager/sales manager and incorporate any necessary changes.
  • Participate in finalizing contract negotiations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
• Project Manager
  • Coordinate with GCs, architects, engineers, and panel suppliers to set up jobs before construction begins.
  • Follow up with change orders and reprice new drawings as needed.
  • Update Quick Books, Plexxis, purchase orders, and work order tickets as necessary.
  • Co‑ordinate with field teams to resolve any issues.
  • Provide necessary information to customers: schedule of values, submittals, product data, lead documentation, shop drawings, BIM requirements, or any requested items.
  • Prepare project budgets, production reports, material lists, and other scope documents.
  • Coordinate with the purchaser on project‑specific vendors and assist with final buy‑outs.
  • Facilitate an internal kick‑off meeting to review project documents and ensure the team understands scope and expectations.
  • Manage the change‑order process by converting requests into executed orders.
  • Manage job cost by evaluating progress weekly.
  • Prepare projections of completed work and assist in accounting, billing, and collections to ensure timely payment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Construction estimating 5+ years (required).
• Proven experience in construction estimating and project management.
• Proficiency with estimating software:
  Procore, Blue Beam, OST, Quick Bid, Quick Books, Plexxis.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other documents.
• Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• High level of comfort with Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.).
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Job type: full‑time, eligible for major benefits (medical, dental & vision), 7 paid holidays.
• Pay range: $85,000 to $100,000.
• New location: 11100 Virginia Street, Crown Point, Indiana.
