Base pay range$25.00/hr - $35.00/hr
Life as a Precision Manual Machinist – Turbo machineryYou begin by reviewing prints, sketches, and job scopes, mapping out complex setups with minimal supervision. From there, you move between horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, and deburring tools. You choose the right fixtures, set up radial and angular drill presses, and coordinate lifts using forklifts, cranes with advanced rigging, and jib hoists. You keep safety and quality at the forefront while delivering parts to extremely close tolerances that meet customer needs.
Responsibilities- Champion safety and quality; maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Engage professionally with internal and external customers at all times.
- Plan and execute complex setups and manual machining operations: turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, and grinding.
- Use micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other metrology tools to achieve and verify extremely close tolerances.
- Interpret drawings, sketches, work scopes, procedures, specifications, and documentation to complete jobs accurately.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and promptly escalate needs for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Accurately measure and record all dimensional inspections; successfully complete annual dimensional inspection testing.
- Complete layouts for most parts and verify conformance throughout the process.
- Train teammates on equipment operation, print reading, tooling selection, machining processes, and repair techniques.
- Ensure continuity across shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
- Maintain complete production and quality logs.
- Take ownership of your performance and continuously build new skills.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- 5–8 years of experience with rotating turbo machinery
- Advanced rigging capabilities
- Advanced manual lathe machining capabilities
- Experience with turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment
- Troubleshooting Skills
