Registered Nurse (Pre/Post Surgical Services)
Responsible for implementing the pre-operative record, nursing care plan and the assimilation of the patient’s hospital record. Also responsible for implementing all physician orders, obtaining signatures on consents, and providing for continuity and quality of nursing care for patients.
Performs tasks like:
Evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care needs of the post-operative or post-procedural patient population; assessing and maintaining adequate ventilation, hemostasis and circulation; assessing level of consciousness, providing pain management, and ensuring the safety of the patient until transfer to another unit; observing patient, recording significant conditions and reactions, and notifying supervisor or physician of the patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program
- Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State of Indiana
- Healthcare BLS, ACLS & PALS certification (ACLS & PALS certification must be obtained per department guidelines)
- Two (2) or more years pre-operative nursing experience
- Experience with cath lab patients a plus
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN)
- Three (3) or more years pre-operative or pre-admitting nursing experience or recovery room or PACU nursing experience
