Deputy Head of Education - Adult Alternative Provision

We are working in partnership with an established alternative education provider in Sutton to recruit a Deputy Head of Education to support the leadership and delivery of high‑quality provision for adult learners.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced education leader to play a key role in shaping provision for learners who may have faced barriers to mainstream education. The successful candidate will support strategic leadership, curriculum quality, staff development, and learner outcomes across the provision.
The RoleAs Deputy Head of Education, you will work closely with the Head of Education to:
- Support the strategic and operational leadership of an adult alternative provision
- Drive quality of teaching, learning, and assessment
- Lead on curriculum development, quality assurance, and learner progress
- Support, mentor, and performance‑manage teaching staff
- Champion inclusive practice, safeguarding, and learner wellbeing
- Use data to monitor outcomes, attendance, and progression
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted, awarding bodies, and internal quality frameworks
- Contribute to continuous improvement planning and inspection readiness
- Proven experience in a senior or middle leadership role within FE, adult education, alternative provision, or SEN settings
- Strong understanding of adult learners and non‑traditional education pathways
- Experience of quality assurance, curriculum leadership, or staff development
- Confident in leading and supporting teams to improve outcomes
- Sound knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding, and compliance
- Teaching qualification required; leadership qualification desirable (e.g. NPQ, ILM)
- Permanent leadership role within a supportive alternative provision
