Overview
Psychology Graduate - Teaching Assistant – Croydon, Full-Time, ASAP. Thinking about a future in educational psychology, SEN, speech and language therapy or mental health? We’re working exclusively with a welcoming primary school in Croydon who are looking for a Psychology graduate to join their team as a Teaching Assistant / Specialist Support. This role is all about intervention, emotional regulation, and building strong foundations for learning.
If you want real, hands-on experience (not just observing from the sidelines), this one’s for you.
The RoleYou'll be working supporting children at a crucial stage of development. Many pupils have additional needs, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH, so your day will be varied, meaningful, and fast-paced.
- Supporting children 1:1 and in small groups
- Helping pupils develop communication, emotional regulation and social skills
- Using play-based and child-centred approaches to support learning
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals
- Making a genuine impact at the earliest stage of education
- Proper classroom experience - not just "graduate admin"
- Ideal stepping stone into Educational Psychology, SEN or therapy routes
- Supportive school that values graduates and invests in them
- Long-term role offering consistency and progression
- A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject
- A strong interest in SEN and child development
- A calm, patient and emotionally intelligent approach
- Confidence to engage with children who need additional support
- Any experience working with children is desirable but not essential
