Job Description

New Chapter Tuition is seeking a dedicated GCSE & Functional Skills Tutor to provide 1:1 outreach support to KS4 learners (Year 10 and Year 11) across Croydon.

You will work with students who are unable to fully access mainstream education, including those with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, or at risk of exclusion. Sessions take place in community-based settings such as homes, libraries, learning hubs, and alternative provisions.

This is a rewarding role focused on improving engagement, confidence, and academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver 1:1 tuition in GCSE and Functional Skills (English, Maths, and occasionally Science)

* Support KS4 learners in Year 10 and Year 11

* Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs

* Deliver sessions in community settings

* Build positive and professional relationships with learners

* Monitor progress and provide feedback

* Liaise with families, schools, and professionals

Requirements

* Experience working with secondary-aged students (KS4)

* Strong knowledge of the UK GCSE and Functional Skills curriculum

* Calm, patient, and empathetic approach

* Ability to work independently in outreach environments

* Strong communication and organisational skills

* Right to work in the UK

* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
