Protein Purification Scientist (Job N/PPSD)

We require highly motivated Protein Purification Scientists to join our growing downstream processing team for the processing of proteins from recombinant and native sources (animal and human derived materials). Scientists will be involved in all aspects of the development, implementation and operation of downstream processing and protein purification from R&D to pilot and process scale.
Location: 61 Largy Road, Crumlin, Co Antrim, BT29 4RR

Contract: Full‑time, Permanent.
Working hours: 4 × 10 hour shifts, 7.30 am to 6.10 pm Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday.
Right to work requirement: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK for a minimum of 12 months from the application date. The role includes a 9‑month probationary period; visa sponsorship will not be offered at the point of hire.
Key duties of the role include:- FPLC purification using multiple chromatography types (Affinity, IEX, SEC, etc.)
- Preparation of resins and columns for chromatography
- Preparation of buffers for all processes
- Chemical extraction and precipitation of raw materials
- Centrifugation
- Normal flow/depth filtration
- Tangential flow filtration for concentration and diafiltration
- Analytical methods for in-process and final product QC
- Routine maintenance and calibration of equipment
- BSc in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering or related subject area.
- Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills (written and oral).
- Knowledge of purification methods.
- Ability to interpret and analyse data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Postgraduate qualification in a related field.
- Experience with FPLC or other protein purification.
- Experience with analytical methods (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, Capillary Electrophoresis, Mass‑Spec, SDS‑PAGE).
- Understanding of protein chemistry.
- Experience in method development in an industrial setting.
