Perform functions to design, update and oversee production of automated machinery.

  • Design electrical systems for automated machinery in accordance with industry standards (NEC, NFPA, IEC). Design and manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, with internal and external craftspeople.
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC and HMI programs with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable. Programs will interact with subsystems such as robots, machine vision, and 3rd party equipment.
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality, and lead‑time limits.
  • Design, program, install, troubleshoot, repair, and automate manufacturing equipment, including electrical control, servos, PLC’s, HMI’s, robotic controls, VFDs, network, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components.
  • Manage and participate in projects for control systems and software‑based projects across a cross functional multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Research and secure price quotes for automation and machine components.
  • Introduce automated processes into production, and train maintenance and production teams to support after deployment into production.
  • Analyze machine data to maximize equipment performance.
  • Work with IT and other teams to maintain the SCADA system, VantagePoint and Historian.
  • Ensure electrical documentation is accurate and available so craftspeople can safely and efficiently troubleshoot equipment.
  • Assist designers/draftsmen in conceptualizing new machinery, automated operation, completion of machine, and detail drawings.
  • Implement (ANSI/RIA
    15.06/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high volume manufacturing equipment.
  • Seek training and technology necessary to maintain knowledge of current trends in advanced manufacturing, tools, components, and systems.
  • Assist in the completion of work instructions and operation documentation.
  • Upgrade existing machine programs for more efficient operation.
  • Debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability and yield.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as apparent and/or assigned.
Qualifications
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum 1‑2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency with process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems.
  • In‑depth knowledge of electrical standards (NFPA
    79).
  • In‑depth knowledge of safety standards (ANSI/OSHA/NFPA 70E).
  • Experience with robot and vision system integration.
  • Advanced proficiency programming industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic power systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), project management and statistical concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO, 6 Sigma and Lean preferred.
