Description
Applications for the Lifeguard position at Three Oaks Recreation Area are currently being accepted. Three Oaks' regular season runs from early April through October while the Swimming Beach is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have American Red Cross Certification for Lifeguard with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid at time of hire.
This is a seasonal position. Hours of work are weather dependent; however, our goal is to schedule all employees 20-30 hours per week, generally in 6-hour shifts.
All employees are required to work a portion of the holiday weekends, which include Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
Examples of Essential DutiesLifeguards provide a safe environment for customers using the beach and Lakehouse Complex at the Three Oaks Recreation Area. Work involves responsibility for performing a variety of tasks related to water and park safety, facility cleanliness, customer service and ensuring a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone using the beach.
Ideal candidates will also possess extensive swimming experience, preferably high school or club swim team. Experience performing lifeguard duties and any equivalent combination of training is a plus.
Supplemental InformationThis position will regularly work in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to direct sunlight. Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with the appropriate assistance of proper equipment or team lifting techniques, in accordance with City safety protocol.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
