Forklift Operator

Join Elgin Recycling as a Forklift Operator and Metal Processor, helping process recyclable metals and providing friendly, efficient service to customers. In this hands-on role, you will safely operate a forklift, sort metals, do light disassembly, help customers unload materials, and support warehouse operations. The position requires open availability during operating hours Monday through Friday and availability on Saturdays. Full-time employees are expected to work at least 32 hours per week;

overtime is not guaranteed.

• Operate a forklift as part of material handling duties and complete forklift certification through Elgin Recycling.
• Sort recyclable materials, including brass, copper, and aluminum.
• Help customers unload the materials they bring in and provide friendly, efficient service.
• Develop a basic understanding of the company's process flow and warehouse procedures, and direct procedural questions to your supervisor.
• Follow management's directions and perform additional duties as assigned.

• Ability to follow directions and adapt to new work environments.
• Ability to complete forklift certification through Elgin Recycling.
• Open availability during operating hours Monday through Friday, including availability to work Saturdays.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) Preferred but not required
• Ability to stand or walk approximately 90% of the workday and sit for the remaining 10%.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder height.
• Vision, depth perception, and hearing sufficient to perform the role's duties.
• Ability to work in extreme heat and cold weather conditions.

$18 per hour.
