General Merchandise Experience

ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE:
Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

At Target, we believe in our team members having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of a General Merchandise Expert can provide you with the following:

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete daily tasks
• Engage with guests who need assistance to solve their specific needs
• Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target
• Execute daily tasks to achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas
• Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures if certified
• Execute processes including price changes, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
• Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services to solve guest issues and improve their experience
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
• Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies and training; report hazards and correct where possible
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while complying with laws
• All other duties based on business needs

Baseline Expectations

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb ladders when required
• Scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds
• Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
• Adapt to varying temperatures and conditions while performing duties
• Ability to remain mobile for scheduled shift duration
