Job Summary:
- Registers patients/specimens appropriately in the Hospital Information System with required information.
- Processes physicians' orders for test specimen requirements; collects/receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System, utilizing appropriate technique and working exceptions as needed.
- Assists in front desk duties as well as outpatient workflow as needed.
- In the absence of the pathology assistant, functions to process pathology specimens and reports as needed.
- Collects/processes Chain of Custody urine drug screens and Breathalyzer tests.
Education:
- High School or GED Required.
- National Phlebotomy Certification Required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Basic computer skills and excellent communication skills required.
- Must have ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain calm under stress.
