About the OpportunityUVA Health is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Hematologist/Oncologist to join our expanding UVA Community Health Cancer Service Line in Northern Virginia. Based primarily at UVA Culpeper Medical Center and UVA Gainesville Cancer Center
, this position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality hematology and oncology care across multiple community locations, supported by the strength of the University of Virginia's academic medical center
.
This is a growth position designed to meet the increasing demand for advanced cancer care in Northern Virginia.
Practice Highlights- Practice Setting: Outpatient, hospital-based, single-specialty group
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM (flexible 4-day workweek available)
- Call: 1:6, providing nightly and weekend cross-coverage for UVA Culpeper, Prince William, and Haymarket Medical Centers
- Clinical Volume: 15-20 clinic patients per day; average annual wRVUs ~5,500
- Case Mix: 50% oncology / 50% hematology
- Hospital Census: Average 0-2 patients daily when rounding
- Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies (approx. 20 per year)
- Virtual Health: Telemedicine and virtual consults integrated into practice
- Support Team: Advanced Practice Clinicians (consult only), plus robust ancillary support including nutrition, social work, chaplaincy, smoking cessation, and patient advocacy services
- Teaching Opportunities: Engagement with UVA Hematology/Oncology fellows (0-2 per year rotate through)
- MD/DO with Board Certification in Hematology and Oncology
- Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia
- Strong interest in delivering state-of-the-art cancer care in community settings
