Key Academy Teacher (Special Education)

• Prepares classroom for activities and defines environment boundaries.
• Develops classroom management and behavior plans.
• Creates lesson plans and uses learning data to guide instruction.
• Selects instructional resources and methods aligned with Virginia SOLs.
• Embeds communication and social skill development. Aligns IEP goals to instructional plans.
• Plans for student transition and encourages self‑determination.
• Creates master schedule and communicates staff roles.
• Organizes instructional materials and keeps them accessible.
• Stays current with online learning program developments and updates plans.
• Delivers daily group instruction using Social Thinking and KEYS curriculum.

• Valid teaching license in Special Education with endorsements in Emotional Disabilities, General Curriculum K‑12 or similar.
• Competency‑based training in universal precautions, de‑escalation and crisis intervention, safe student transportation, medication administration, confidentiality, ethics, CPR/First Aid, and APEX, Hybridge, and LEXIA online learning programs.
• Proof of maintaining CPR/First Aid certification.
