This is a project management position with the Virginia Department of Transportation responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring and directing work activities for assigned transportation engineering projects. The engineer will manage multiple concurrent projects to ensure they meet established schedules, budgets, design criteria and specifications while providing technical guidance and communication with internal staff, local governments, consultants and the public.
Key qualifications:- Engineering experience related to transportation design, construction and project development process
- Knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications and materials
- Knowledge of principles and practices of transportation project management and engineering
- Skill in contract management, change management and team leadership
- Ability to plan, coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Skill in computers and software applications including MS Office and project management software
