Physical Therapist (PT)-PRN
Position:
Physical Therapist (PT) – PRN, Code: PT1460,
Location:
UVA Community Health.
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The employee may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
Responsibilities- Responsible for providing therapy services consistent with licensure to clients including evaluation of patient, establishing plan of care, implementing treatment, directing, and educating patient and/or caregiver and documentation of the above.
- Supervise therapy assistants, technicians, students, and volunteers as applicable.
- Communicate with other health care providers regarding client care and treatment plans.
- Provide training and education for hospital staff as requested.
- Complete patient documentation in a timely manner to meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Attend continuing education programs and present findings to appropriate staff as applicable.
- Review and complete all insurance authorization requirements for patients in a timely manner.
- Assist with performance improvement for rehab department and hospital.
- Understand use and precautions of any treatments and equipment used.
- Positively contributes to the departmental financial performance/productivity.
- Completes patient evaluations and treatments independently while maintaining patient safety.
- Appropriately seeks guidance and assistance when necessary.
- Independently establishes/implements treatment goals and plans based on patient input and evaluation and assessment results.
- Reassesses outcomes and modifies goals and plans to meet changing needs of the patient.
- Schedules patient activities according to patient individual needs.
- Functions as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Accepts responsibility for actions; seeks, accepts, and acts positively upon feedback from others.
- Shares responsibility for effective internal communications through a team approach.
- Organizes individual patient caseload in collaboration with team workload demands.
- Performs daily administrative/office activities to ensure efficient flow of care within team.
- Acquires and maintains knowledge of clinical therapy practice by identifying continuing education needs and participating in educational opportunities.
- Provides orientation and guidance to new rehabilitation staff in work area as requested.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited PT program.
Experience: No experience necessary. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Virginia State Therapy License, Physical Therapist Trainee in Virginia, or Compact Privilege.

Physical DemandsThe job requires standing and walking constantly and frequently bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. Medium to Heavy Physical Demand.
