The Multimodality Technologist II will work in at least two modalities and assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The role requires a current certification in Radiology, Ultrasound, Mammography, CT, Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiation Therapy, and cross‑training or certification in MRI.
Responsibilities Patient Care- Explain procedures and post‑procedure orders to patients.
- Prioritize workflow based on patient condition and ensuring timely arrival and departure.
- Adhere to ALARA standards and maintain safety in the MR environment.
- Foster a cooperative and confident atmosphere for patients.
- Use patient satisfaction data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Follow OSHA regulations and universal precautions.
- Clean examination surfaces, linens, and address spills promptly.
- Properly store accessory equipment.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with co‑workers.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Maintain sterile fields and equipment integrity.
- Adjust diagnostic equipment for appropriate density, contrast, and detail.
- Perform warm‑up routines, quality control checks, and document variances.
- Follow imaging protocols and modify technique when clinically indicated.
- Critique images for clarity and determine need for repeats.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications EducationGraduate from an accredited Radiology program.
Experience2 years of experience in diagnostic radiology preferred.
LicensureMust possess a certification in Radiology, Ultrasound, Mammography, CT, Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiation Therapy (ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB) and either be cross‑training in MRI or possess the MRI certification (ARRT or ARMRIT). Registry eligible technologists must complete MRI certification within 1 year of hire.
Additional Skills and RequirementsThorough knowledge of radiographic equipment, analytical ability, basic computer skills, ability to adapt to various situations, good communication skills, ability to work independently, multitasking, and prioritization.
Physical DemandsProlonged standing, frequent travel and reaching, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. May be exposed to radiation. Use safe handling equipment for weights over 35 lbs.
Other Requirements- May require safety equipment such as HEPA mask for infection prevention.
- On‑call responsibilities as directed.
- Travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
