The Position

We are seeking a licensed physical therapist assistant to join our continually growing therapy services department. We are a department of UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, a not-for-profit organization. Positions available with the ability to specialize in multiple areas including pediatrics.

We provide mentorships and preceptorships. Our experienced team includes Board Certified Therapists. We encourage and promote growth of specialties and Board Certification.

Specialties and services:

Orthopedics, pediatrics, aquatics, oncology, pelvic health, lymphedema, dry needling, LSVT, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, and neurological rehabilitation.

JOB SUMMARY

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The employee may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Responsible for providing therapy services consistent with licensure to clients including implementing treatment, directing, and educating patient and/or caregiver and documentation of the above.
  • Supervise rehab technicians, students, and volunteers as applicable.
  • Communicate with other health care providers regarding client care and treatment plans.
  • Provide training and education for hospital staff as requested.
  • Complete patient documentation in a timely manner to meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Attend continuing education programs and present findings to appropriate staff as applicable.
  • Review and complete all insurance authorization requirements for patients in a timely manner.
  • Assist with performance improvement for rehab department and hospital.
  • Understand use and precautions of any treatments and equipment used.
  • Positively contributes to the departmental financial performance/productivity.
Patient Care

Delivers care that is consistent with the team member's discipline in accordance with the specific therapy practice act, guidelines, and code of ethics of the respective organization, i.e., APTA, ASHA, AOTA.

  • Completes patient evaluations and treatments independently while maintaining patient safety.
  • Appropriately seeks guidance and assistance when necessary.
  • Independently establishes/implements treatment goals and plans based on patient input and evaluation and assessment results.
  • Reassesses outcomes and modifies goals and plans to meet changing needs of the patient.
