Job Summary:

Bingham & Taylor is seeking a motivated Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team in Fredericksburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing the most crucial and urgent machinery, equipment, and system/facility issues and breakdowns within the plant. This position will also be involved with leading efforts to install new equipment, performing regular service and maintenance procedures, and developing/implementing continuous improvement efforts.

The primary goal of this role will center around expediting and leading maintenance efforts and maximizing equipment availability, rate of operation, product quality, and cost efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of knowledge and experience working with electrical and electronic principles and systems. This role is very “hands‑on” and will require close interaction with Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures the safety and environmental considerations are given a top priority in work procedures.
  • Advanced abilities to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic systems.
  • Isolate, test and troubleshoot low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems (fuses, switch gear, circuit breakers, transformers, etc).
  • Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic, electrical schematics and I/O diagrams and use this information to solve problems.
  • Familiar with and ability to navigate Ethernet networks;
    Identify/log onto PLC addresses.
  • Ability to make minor program changes to & troubleshoot PLC’s.
  • Demonstrate understanding of IP addressing.
  • Have problem solving skills with relay logic circuits, VFD Motor Drives and furnace control SCR systems.
  • Expertise using all common hand tools and mechanical/electrical measuring instruments, such as Multimeter, Oscilloscope, and Megger.
  • Obtain and interpret drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files, online sources, equipment vendors and manufacturers. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc. necessary to communicate issues.
  • Work to continually improve the Reactive, Preventive & Predictive maintenance programs.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities and solutions.
  • Become of the “resident technical experts” for specialized machines, such as the melting induction furnaces, sand mold machines, and air compressors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in a technical discipline or minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance capacity required. AMechatronic certification and background is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience as an industrial equipment technician. Will possess some Multi‑Craft experience and be able to demonstrate such.
  • Basic welding skills using stick technique, operation of cutting torches and plasma cutters and knowledge of mobile equipment operation strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements

This position may require frequent bending, lifting, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees should be able to perform this duty with or without reasonable accommodations.
