Design and Construction Project Management Executive

The Museum of Culpeper History is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and showcasing artifacts and stories that capture the town of Culpeper and Culpeper County, Virginia's unique history and culture. Its exhibitions span from the Triassic period of dinosaurs to the modern day, offering a comprehensive glimpse into the area’s rich heritage. The museum fosters a deeper understanding of the community’s past with a range of engaging displays and educational programs.

Located in the heart of Culpeper, VA, it serves as a hub for cultural exploration and learning.

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Culpeper, VA. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the Museum, including staff and volunteer management, fundraising, budgeting, and strategic planning. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing educational programs, curating exhibits, fostering community partnerships, and ensuring the preservation of the museum’s collections. The Executive Director will also engage with stakeholders, represent the museum publicly, and take a leadership role in advancing its mission.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and organizational management skills, with experience in staff or volunteer coordination, strategic planning, and budget management.
  • Proficiency in fundraising, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and securing sponsor ships.
  • Understanding of museum operations, including exhibit curation, collections management, and public programming.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with community stakeholders, board members, and visitors.
  • Passion for history, cultural preservation, and community engagement, with the ability to convey these values effectively.
  • Knowledge or experience in nonprofit management and administration is a plus.
  • Advanced degree in History, Museum Studies, Public Administration, or related field is preferred but not required.
