The Quality Engineer creates and implements effective and efficient validation systems for products and processes and ensures that all related external and internal requirements are met. The Quality Engineer reports to the Executive Vice President of Quality Assurance as well as to the Vice President of Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Responsibilities- Driving Corrective and Preventative Initiatives in all Departments to closure based on effective improvements through integrated root cause analysis and timely implementation and evaluation of preventive measures.
- Perform and report internal and external audits.
- Prepare First Article and other technical reports.
- Review inquiries for new products and advise the Sales Team on accurate representation of achievable product tolerances for all applicable characteristics.
- Establish product and process validation requirements for new products by developing and implementing both first article and serial production inspection methods.
- Prepare validation documents, forms, routers, procedures, and standard work documents for manufactured and purchased products and equipment.
- Train team members in new validation processes.
- Implement NADCAP-compliant systems leading to continuous NADCAP accreditations.
- Survey processes, environments, and equipment.
- Facilitate the transfer of the company’s calibration system and environmental data acquisition systems to the Maintenance Team.
- Promote quality and performance throughout the organization.
- Set up and maintain controls for in-line inspection.
- Monitor and report performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
- Ensure process compliance across all production departments.
- Continuously audit all production departments to ensure work instructions and procedures are fully understood and followed.
- Assist with operator certifications and re-training as needed.
- Oversee NCR (Non-Conformance Report) management, including retraining team members and initiating CPARs for systemic issues.
- Assist the Senior Quality Engineer with calibrations and the definition of product quality attributes as needed.
- Train and re-train team members as needed for correct use of ERP applications.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the QA Manager.
- Document work and activities in weekly progress reports.
- Maintain a normal work schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch, with occasional night-shift support as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years related experience
- Technical background preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to accuracy and precision
- Working knowledge of diverse units of measurement for various tests
