Position Summary
This armed security position reports to the Manager and performs a variety of security-related duties. The officer observes and reports activities at assigned locations, providing safety for client property, visitors, and personnel. The officer may respond to unusual or emergency situations, escalating force up to and including armed response as directed by protocol. The officer also enforces regulations, controls access, patrols the site, protects evidence, prepares logs and reports, and monitors entrances and exits.
EssentialFunctions
- Control access to client sites or facilities and screen visitors and client employees efficiently.
- Respond to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force levels, including armed response if required.
- Provide a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with all client employees and visitors.
- Communicate openly, honestly and responsively in all situations; provide information to visitors as authorized.
- Monitor entrances and exits; prevent unwanted or unlawful entry by controlling movement and using gates, remote access devices, CCTV, and vehicle screening.
- Patrol assigned sites on foot or in vehicles; inspect for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations and unauthorized persons.
- Protect evidence or the scene of an incident, set up barriers and signage, and provide directions or information to others.
- Prepare logs or reports; record incidents, suspicious activity, and other required data in a computer using standard grammar and format.
- Observe and report incidents, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, hazardous materials, and other incidents following established procedures and by company training.
Bachelor’s degree.
Additional Qualifications / ResponsibilitiesMinimum qualifications include U.S. citizenship (preferred); age 21 years or older; high school diploma or GED; and a minimum of two years of armed security or law‑enforcement experience, OR two years of honorable service with the U.S. Armed Forces.
Basic Qualifications- U.S. Citizenship Preferred
- Be at least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Meet state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed security work.
- Maintain certification for Basic Life Support CPR/AED, First Aid, and any required weapon qualifications.
- Show knowledge of security operations and procedures.
- Primary communication skills – reading, hearing, speaking, writing, and routine correspondence.
- Follow written, oral or diagrammatic instructions.
- Work effectively as a team member and maintain professional composure in unusual situations.
- Adapt to changes in external environment and organization.
- Good organizational and customer‑service skills; courteous telephone manner.
- Handle multiple concurrent tasks.
- Use computers and necessary software.
Job requires physical and mental capacity for all essential functions. Wage range: $17.75 (starting trainee wage) in all states except California where it is $26.00. Additional compensation and shift differentials may apply. Health and welfare benefits range from $4.23–$6.25 per hour, plus possible Secret or Top‑Secret clearance compensation.
