Position SummaryThis armed position is under the supervision of the Manager for an assigned high‑profile site and involves a variety of security‑related duties. The officer observes and reports activities and incidents at the location, ensuring the safety of client property, visitors, and personnel. An armed officer may respond to unusual or emergency situations, escalating force up to and including armed response, as dictated by the situation and protocol.
The officer also assists in preserving order, enforces regulations, controls access through the admittance process, monitors entrances and exits, and patrols the site on foot or vehicle. The job may expose the officer to stressful situations.
- Controls access to the client site or facility through the admittance process, preventing unauthorized entry and theft or intentional destruction of physical assets.
- Responds to unusual or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response following established site protocol.
- Provides a courteous, respectful, and pleasant interaction with clients and visitors, presenting a good image of the client and its security department.
- Communicates openly, honestly, and responsively, providing authorized information about the site to visitors.
- Monitors entrances and exits, prevents unapproved or unlawful entry, controls the movement of people and vehicles, operates gates, examines vehicle contents, and uses closed‑circuit television to monitor remote entrances.
- Patrols assigned site on foot or in a vehicle, checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
- Protects evidence or the scene of an incident during accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; sets up barriers and signage.
- Prepares logs or reports as required for the site; writes or types reports using standard grammar and computer software.
- Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel, or public safety authorities as appropriate.
- Responds to incidents such as fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other emergencies following site procedures.
- Performs any other tasks of a similar scope required for the assigned site.
- U.S. citizenship (preferred).
- Minimum age 21 years.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least two (2) years of armed security or law enforcement experience, OR two (2) years of honorable service with the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks.
- Must pass controlled substance testing.
- Must meet physical examination requirements per assignment.
- Must complete behavioral selection survey.
- Must meet any mandatory licensing requirements.
- Meet and maintain state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed security work and weapon qualifications.
- Maintain certification in Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
- Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly to communicate with employees and clients; write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
- Execute instructions given in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Work effectively as a team member and maintain professional composure under unusual circumstances.
- Adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
- Good organizational skills.
- Provide high‑quality customer service and courteous telephone manner with good interpersonal skills across diverse cultures.
