The Pharmacist performs day‑to‑day responsibilities of drug distribution, drug order entry, processing and verification. Performs therapeutic intervention as needed, drug information and consultation to other professional staff and patients, maintenance of patient profiles, attendance at cardio‑pulmonary emergencies, drug therapy monitoring, drug compounding, medication order entry, unit dose cassette filling, preparation of all sterile medications, narcotic dispensing and accounting, and participation in all code blues.

The Pharmacist directs technicians and performs inventory control as assigned by the supervisor/director.

• Reads, interprets and verifies physician orders. Assesses medication orders initially and on an ongoing basis for appropriateness. Prepares and distributes drugs to patients and ensures optimal formulary compliance.
• Accurately compounds and dispenses extemporaneous preparations and controlled substances. Appropriately prepares parenteral products using aseptic technique. Implements appropriate age‑related therapy, pharmacokinetics dosing, and performs and documents drug therapy interventions.
• Collaborates with other team members in providing correct drug and dosage form of delivery for age group and collaborates with nursing to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy considering the age of patient. Participates as an active member of the Code Blue Team.

• Actively participates in the training/education of new and existing staff. Serves as an effective participant on clinical rounds and participates in meetings and programs, as needed/assigned, to promote patient care and provide understanding and optimal drug therapy.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy
• Two (2) years’ experience in clinical pharmacy or a residency program
• Licensed by the CA State Board of Pharmacy
• Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization

Additionally, SCH‑CC operates a 24‑hour emergency services center, which serves as a paramedic receiving station and is staffed by board‑certified emergency physicians and nurse specialists.
