Position Summary
Youth Athletes United (YAU) is a leading educational sports program across the country. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic sports coach to lead small‑group classes for children of various ages. The coach will develop physical literacy, gross motor skills, teamwork, and socialization abilities using positive reinforcement and a low child‑to‑coach ratio.
The role includes coaching during classes, camps, after‑school enrichment, birthday parties, and team training, impacting over 100,000 participants each year.
Key Responsibilities- Teach and coach children in Tennis, Golf, Pickleball, Cheer, or Flag Football
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons for 2‑pm to 6‑pm weekday sessions
- Transport to East LA and Santa Monica venues as needed
- Manage equipment for 3‑5 hours weekly and oversee inventory
- Participate in 6 hours of recruitment, hiring, training sessions, and class observations
- Collaborate with parents and location staff to gather performance feedback
- Support the coach training curriculum and participate in ongoing professional development
- Passion for working with children and improving physical literacy
- Strong sports background with general sports knowledge
- Reliable transportation; ability to travel to local schools and parks
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with children and parents
- Punctuality; classes held after school in the afternoons
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Capable of lifting up to 20 pounds and carrying sports kits
- Experience in staff management and development
Coaching:
$21 per hour (starting after coach test completion); potential increase to $25 based on experience and performance.
Administrative work: $21 per hour; required office presence on Thursdays and Fridays.
Typical weekly commitment: 7‑9 hours coaching, 3‑5 hours equipment management, 6 hours recruitment and training activities.
