Radiology Technologist – UPMC Western Maryland
Join to apply for the Radiology Technologist role s full‑time position is 40 hours per week, variable shifts, including weekend and holiday rotation, and may include night shifts occasionally.
Highlights:
- A $10,000 sign‑on bonus in exchange for a 2‑year work commitment.
- Diagnostic Technologist rates start at $24.74/hr;
Diagnostic Technologist Advanced rates start at $26.00/hr. - Rate and title based on experience and education.
- Perform diagnostic radiography procedures using established protocols without constant supervision.
- Execute technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative, applying ionizing radiation appropriately.
- Operate complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, manipulation, and documentation of image data, completing procedures per protocol.
- Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy.
- Interact effectively with patients and coworkers, demonstrating caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Communicate instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety and solicit cooperation.
- Identify all patients using two identifiers, apply universal protocol, review history and physician orders, and document in electronic record.
- Ensure all exams are correctly coded, tracked through RIS, networked to ISITE for archiving, and charges entered accurately.
- Graduate of an ARRT‑approved school of Radiologic Technology or enrollment with verification pending graduation.
- For Diagnostic Technologist
:
Technical supervision by a certified diagnostic technologist until degree verification. - For Diagnostic Technologist Advanced
:
Minimum 2 years diagnostic experience and a recent performance review rating of strong/solid/good.
- ARRT certification as a Radiologic Technologist (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required; CPR per AHA standards must be completed within 30 days of hire.
