Senior Analyst, Finance – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Position Summary:
This position will report to a Manager within the Health, Safety and Environment department. It supports financial monitoring and reporting for the Risk Management Department, including Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Programs. Responsibilities include processing vendor invoices, responding to vendor requests, department budgeting, month‑end close processes, forecasting and account reconciliations. The role requires regular data access, monitoring and analysis to support projects and deliver results, creating reports to identify trends and opportunities, and ensuring high‑quality financial standards are met.
Strong understanding of accounting and finance systems is essential.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for HSE programs and projects.
- Collaborate with HSE and Risk teams to monitor expenses, track cost savings, and ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Process vendor invoices and respond to vendor requests in a timely manner.
- Support month‑end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Prepare and present financial updates and insights to leadership, including month‑end summaries and variance analyses.
- Access, monitor, and analyze data to support projects and deliver actionable results.
- Create reports to identify trends, opportunities, and ensure high‑quality standards are achieved.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, controls, and data quality for HSE operations.
- Assist in business case development and ROI analysis for new HSE initiatives and acquisitions.
- Oversee department and budget cost control, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets and proactively identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic HSE initiatives and inform leadership decision‑making.
- Serve as a resource and informal mentor for junior team members, sharing best practices and expertise across the team.
- Independently identify and resolve complex financial and operational issues; proactively elevate when appropriate.
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, planning, accounting, or a related finance function.
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance systems.
- Experience supporting operational or compliance‑focused teams (HSE, Risk, or similar) preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or other reporting tools a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Previous experience with Ariba, SAP 4/Hana, Fiori, Power BI strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multi‑task and adjust priorities based on business needs.
- Internal CVS experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
