Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure

Location:

Glasgow, Scotland / Hybrid

Security Clearance: SC required or eligibility to obtain

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a major infrastructure upgrade programme in Scotland.

The project is being delivered within a highly regulated and security-sensitive environment and involves significant civil engineering, building, M&E and infrastructure works supporting a major UK defence facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC experience and a background in major infrastructure or other regulated sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial management of allocated projects and work packages.
  • Cost planning, forecasting, reporting and cost control.
  • Management of variations, change control and NEC compensation events.
  • Administration and management of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Subcontractor account management, valuations and final accounts.
  • Support procurement and supply chain management.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Provide accurate commercial reporting to project and senior commercial teams.
  • Work closely with project managers, contractors and stakeholders to resolve commercial and contractual matters.
Essential Experience
  • Strong NEC3/NEC4 experience, ideally ECC.
  • Quantity Surveying experience within major infrastructure, construction or engineering projects.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated or security-sensitive environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, forecasting, change control and commercial reporting.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Experience with in nuclear, defence, energy, rail, water, T&D, major civils or other regulated environments would be highly advantageous.

Security & Working Arrangements

Due to the sensitive nature of the programme, SC Security Clearance is required, or candidates must be eligible to obtain it.

UK nationals only; dual nationals cannot be considered.

The role is based in Scotland, with approximately 2–3 days per week on the project site and the remainder working remotely under the agreed hybrid arrangement.
