Position: Music Teacher - Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Music lessons across relevant year groups, following the school's curriculum and national standards.
  • Teach a range of Music disciplines.
  • Inspire creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills through practical and theoretical learning.
  • Ensure safe use of tools, machinery, and materials in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Develop students' design thinking, technical competence, and confidence in using both traditional and digital technologies.
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Maintain an organised, stimulating, and safe classroom/workshop environment.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources.
  • Support and guide students undertaking Music projects or coursework, providing constructive feedback.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff training, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Promote a positive learning culture that reflects the school's values and encourages curiosity, independence, and teamwork.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognised teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Music or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Music at secondary or sixth form level (experience across multiple Music disciplines is desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of current Music curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Proficiency in using a range of Music digital software.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety in workshops and practical settings.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire creativity and problem-solving in students of varying abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities, such as clubs, competitions, or school events related to design and innovation.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and supportive approach to working within a team.
