Learning Assistant Universal Part Time; Term Time Temporary - REQ

Role Overview

Learning Assistant (Universal) with Cumbernauld Academy, Language & Communication Unit (LCSC) at North Lanarkshire Council. Supports children with additional support needs in the school environment, including caring for them, assisting with personal hygiene, maintaining hygiene sundries, daily reception and departure, messenger duties, and classroom tasks such as preparation of classwork, setting up teaching aids, recording programmes and reprographic work.

• Provide universal learning assistance to children with additional support needs.
• Assist with children’s personal hygiene and ensure hygienic supplies are restocked.
• Manage daily reception and departure of children and perform messenger or escort duties.
• Prepare classroom materials, set up teaching aids, record programmes and handle reprographic work.
• Support the implementation of the Protected Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and become a PVG member prior to commencing.

• Recent experience working with children in a voluntary capacity or school setting.
• Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
• Willingness to undertake specific NHS or Education training as required.
• Experience with children or young people who have additional needs is desirable.
• PVG Scheme membership required before starting the role.

27.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 5.5 hours per day. Temporary positions until 26/06/2027.
