Application Engineer – Emerson, Cumbernauld, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities- Application Development:
Work as part of the application engineering team to develop applications as per the needs of the business; including testing analysers, managing timelines, and collaborating between stakeholders. - Operations Support:
Work alongside operations staff to assist in movement of analysers through production in regards to complex applications. - Product Expertise:
Provide in-depth technical knowledge of process gas and laser analyser products, including their features, specifications, and applications, to support customer inquiries and sales efforts. - Solution Configuration:
Work closely with sales offices to configure tailored gas analysis solutions that meet their specific requirements and regulatory needs. - Market Insights:
Stay updated on industry trends, product developments, and competitor offerings to provide relevant market intelligence and assist in product positioning.
You promote high visibility of shared contributions to goals. You quickly and significantly take action in constantly evolving, unexpected situations. You actively seek input from pertinent sources to make timely and well-informed decisions. You handle the risk that comes with moving forward when the outcome is not certain.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, or related scientific field.
- Knowledge of gas analysis technologies and measuring principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical customers.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of CRM systems a bonus.
- Experience working with gas analysis equipment.
- 2–3 years of experience in a scientist or engineering role, preferably within the gas analysis or instrumentation industry.
- Knowledge of spectroscopic techniques including IR and UV‑Vis.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to gas analysis (e.g., ISO, ATEX).
- Understanding of process gas measurements including sampling, conditions and sample handling.
