Senior BNG Specialist – WSP UK & Ireland

• Plan and conduct terrestrial ecology surveys (UK Habitat, HCA, NVC, protected species).
• Perform BNG assessments using Defra and client toolkits and guidance.
• Consult with clients and project design teams, liaising with GIS specialists.
• Prepare ecological deliverables:
  Baseline Reports, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Appropriate Assessments.
• Manage tasks and support tendering and project management as required.
• Mentor junior staff and peers.
• Attend weekly and monthly Ecology team meetings and BNG resourcing meetings.
• Utilise a generous training and career development budget for professional growth.

• Academic qualification in Ecology or a related discipline.
• Full membership of CIEEM (or working towards Chartership).
• Relevant experience in ecological consultancy or regulatory role.
• Strong communication, people management and positive team attitude.
• Knowledge of Scottish habitats, Phase 1, NVC, HCA and Defra Metric/SSE Toolkits.
• Experience with design development processes, EIA, PEA and planning applications.
• Capability to produce high‑quality, scientifically robust reports.
• Familiarity with local and national planning guidance (e.g., NPF4).
• Proficiency in GIS (Arc Map or QGIS) and field survey software (Coreo, Fieldmaps, Survey
  123).
