Baker Street Recruitment is working in partnership with an established project management consultancy that supports the development of major infrastructure projects across England, Wales, and Scotland. Due to continued growth in their NSIP portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Planning Manager to lead the planning and consenting phase of nationally significant infrastructure projects through to Final Investment Decision (FID).
The projects include renewable energy generation (solar and wind), hydrogen, and airports.
The RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing the planning and consenting process for complex infrastructure schemes, acting as the interface between clients, planning authorities, technical consultants, and stakeholders. This role offers flexibility, with the option to work remotely or in a hybrid arrangement, alongside travel to key offices and project locations as required.
Key responsibilities and qualifications include:- Managing the planning and consenting process for NSIP schemes from early development through submission and decision
- Leading and coordinating DCO (Development Consent Order) or DNS (Developments of National Significance) applications
- Overseeing and contributing to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes
- Managing consultant teams, programmes, and budgets during the consenting phase
- Supporting clients through statutory consultation and stakeholder engagement
- Providing strategic advice to ensure projects progress efficiently towards FID
- Proven experience managing or supporting projects through a DCO or DNS application
- Expert-level understanding of the NSIP planning regime
- Direct involvement in EIA applications and coordination of technical inputs
- Experience working on major infrastructure or large-scale development projects
- Background in planning consultancy, project management consultancy, engineering, or client-side infrastructure delivery
