AEROSPACE - Technical Author Contract - 6 Months (OUTSIDE IR35)
We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to support the development, certification, manufacture, and ongoing support of aerospace products. The role focuses on producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation across the full engineering lifecycle, ensuring alignment with aerospace standards and regulatory expectations.
This position requires hands‑on collaboration with engineering and programme teams and is fully onsite due to the nature of the work.
Key Responsibilities Technical Documentation- Create and maintain structured, accurate technical documentation, including:
- Engineering requirements and specifications
- Design descriptions and technical reports
- Verification documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports
- Convert complex engineering data into clear, well‑organised technical content suitable for multiple stakeholders
- Work closely with engineers and project teams to gather, review, and validate technical information
- Actively challenge and clarify content to ensure technical accuracy and completeness
- Ensure documentation complies with relevant aerospace standards and regulatory requirements
- Support certification activities, customer reviews, audits, and formal assessments
- Maintain traceability between requirements, design outputs, and verification evidence
- Proven experience as a Technical Author / Technical Writer within the aerospace sector
- Strong ability to understand and document complex engineering systems
- Excellent written English with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience managing controlled documentation and versioning
- Confident working with multidisciplinary technical teams in a regulated environment
- Experience working to aerospace documentation standards
- Familiarity with certification, compliance, and verification documentation
- Background documenting requirements, specifications, and test evidence
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or software‑based systems
