The Electronic Systems business unit is a segment of Molex's Aerospace & Defense Solutions division. With primary locations in California, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania USA and Cumbernauld UK, we design and manufacture high performance mission critical electronics:
- Rugged power supply and computing systems in VITA VPX and VNX+ form factors
- RF and Satcom: ADC/DAC digital direct sampling and processing systems
- FPGA accelerated computing platforms featuring AMD and Altera devices in PCIe form factors
- Microelectronics:
Custom ruggedised and miniaturised assemblies
We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team based onsite at our UK Headquarters in Cumbernauld.
What You Will DoWorking in a highly motivated team, the successful candidate will help develop high speed digital hardware products and systems. You will:
- Design the mechanical hardware used on our products including air‑cooled, liquid‑cooled and conduction‑cooled heatsinks, fansinks, PCIe compliant brackets and stand‑alone electrical enclosures.
- Use Solid Works 3D modelling tool and its associated tool chain (PDM Vault, Visualize).
- Work with PCB layout and simulation teams to ensure a robust product that meets the design specification.
- Work in our lab to take designs through assembly check‑fits.
- Assist with production handover and support for released products.
- Document test plans, Engineering manuals and production documents in accordance with company procedures.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
- Proven experience in developing mechanical designs for the electronic industry.
- Knowledge of Solid Works 3D modelling tool.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFT.
- Knowledge of the full product development lifecycle.
- Ability to multi‑task, problem solve as well as develop and meet project schedules.
- Team player who can also work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
- Tolerance analysis.
- Solid Works Simulation.
- Solid Works Composer.
- Altium/Solid Works MCAD Co Designer.
- Simulation and thermal design experience.
- Experience of rugged VITA standards.
