The Role

Provide domestic service to patients, staff and visitors of NHS Lanarkshire (NHSL) premises through effective and efficient methods to deliver a safe and welcoming environment and meet NHSL and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) standards. To work alongside and support new staff in the working environment. NHS Lanarkshire aims to put the patient at the heart of everything we do and every colleague plays a key role in how we deliver healthcare services.

We serve a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in both North and South Lanarkshire. NHS Lanarkshire comprises Acute Services (hospital-based services over three main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, and North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships providing integrated primary healthcare and social care to local communities and surrounding areas.

• Deliver domestic services to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment in NHS Lanarkshire premises.
• Work alongside and support new staff in the working environment.
• Assist in contributing to infection prevention and control standards as required.

• Knowledge of cleaning standards and related procedures.
• On-the-job training and induction (typically 4–6 weeks, depending on hours/days worked) to achieve full competency across a range of duties.
• Working knowledge of Health & Safety including participation in risk assessment of individual tasks.
• Training in Prevention, Assessment & Management Of Violence & Aggression (PaMOVA) level 1 and level 2 if identified following an appropriate risk assessment.
• Undertake NHS Lanarkshire compulsory training.
• Undertake mandatory Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) standards.
• Complete NHSS Domestic Services Workbook.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively and efficiently in a busy environment.
• Working knowledge of basic information technology.

• Recognised SVQ or relevant equivalent qualification.
• Experience working in a domestic services/cleaning environment.
• Knowledge of systems and processes such as HAI, manual handling, management of aggression, infection control, COSHH, fire safety.
• Ability to use a range of electrical cleaning equipment.

Contract type:
Permanent and Part Time (15.37 hours).

Please note this is a part-time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern:
This role will be based in PSSD within Abronhill Health Centre. The working pattern will be confirmed during the interview. Applicants shortlisted for interview may be considered for similar vacancies in alternative locations.
