Full-time An exciting opportunity to join Twenty Four-Seven Twenty Four-Seven is a specialist, independent organisation that has been supporting children and families since 2001. We are looking for an experienced and committed Social Work Assessor to join our residential Family Assessment Centre in Kings Heath, Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a Social Worker with experience in statutory children's services and parenting assessments to take on a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the lives of children and families.
Salary & Bonus Starting salary: £38,750 per annum In addition, we have introduced a new Parenting Assessment Bonus Scheme, paying £250 for every completed parenting assessment. A full-time Social Work Assessor holding a caseload of three families could earn up to an additional £3,000 per year through the scheme. About the Role As a Social Work Assessor, you will lead complex and in-depth parenting assessments within our residential Family Centre.
You will work directly with parents, babies and children, ensuring that children's safety, wellbeing and development remain at the centre of every assessment. You will manage a caseload of up to three families, providing professional leadership to the staff team supporting each family and working collaboratively with parents to help them develop the skills and confidence required to parent safely and successfully.
The role involves close partnership working with Local Authority Social Workers, Children's Guardians, solicitors and other professionals involved in care proceedings.
Key Responsibilities Lead and undertake comprehensive parenting assessments on a residential basis. Hold a caseload of up to three families. Assess parenting capacity and identify strengths, risks and areas requiring further development. Ensure children's safety, wellbeing and developmental needs are promoted throughout the assessment. Develop and review clear risk assessments, safety plans and action plans. Direct and support Family Assessment Support Workers, sessional staff and students.
Undertake direct work with parents to develop their parenting knowledge, skills and confidence. Coordinate the start and end of placements and regularly review assessment progress. Identify and respond promptly to safeguarding concerns. Produce high-quality, evidence-based reports to inform care planning and Court proceedings. Attend Court and provide professional evidence when required. Organise, chair and minute placement review meetings. Ensure parents are fully involved in the assessment process, using a Signs of Safety approach.
Maintain regular communication with Local Authority Social Workers, Children's Guardians, solicitors and other professionals. Contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the Family Centre. Provide professional guidance and consultation to colleagues. Contribute to service development, research and continuous improvement. About You You will be a qualified Social Worker with strong experience of working with children and families, ideally within statutory children's services.
You will have:
A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW or equivalent). Current registration with Social Work England. At least two years' relevant experience in statutory childcare/social work.
Experience of undertaking complex and in-depth parenting assessments.
Experience of giving evidence in Court in care proceedings. Strong knowledge of child development, attachment and parenting capacity. A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection practice.
Experience of working with parents experiencing challenges such as learning difficulties, mental health needs, substance misuse or previous experience of care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The confidence to manage difficult conversations and de-escalate…
