0180 – Fire Protection Advisor – Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service About the role

We are looking for a Fire Protection Advisor to join our Fire Protection Team. This role helps keep communities safe by supporting businesses to meet fire safety laws and reduce risk.

You will work across more than one locality, carrying out fire safety audits in low to medium risk premises. You’ll also support Fire Protection Inspectors with more complex, high‑risk premises and enforcement work.

This role combines practical site work, communication with businesses, and teamwork with partners and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out fire safety audits in low to medium risk premises and support higher‑risk inspections
  • Record findings, manage follow‑up actions and address non‑compliance appropriately
  • Assist with enforcement activity, including notices and evidence gathering
  • Provide clear fire safety advice and guidance to businesses, partners and colleagues
  • Work with partners to support community fire risk reduction and safety initiatives
