Location: NCIC – Cross-site between Carlisle and Whitehaven (Base: Cumberland Infirmary)

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00/8:30am – 4:00/4:30pm (37.5 hours per week)

Contract Type: Locum

Payment Method: Direct Engagement

Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking a dedicated Band 6 Specialist Adult Speech and Language Therapist to join the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC), working across sites in Carlisle and Whitehaven. This locum role offers a varied caseload, covering both acute adult and adult community work, and requires flexibility to travel across Cumbria.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions for adults with swallowing and communication difficulties, while contributing to integrated care across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults presenting with swallowing and/or communication difficulties
  • Deliver therapy across acute and community settings within NCIC
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other NHS organisations to support integrated care pathways
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional standards
  • Contribute to service development and patient-centred care initiatives
Requirements
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (required)
  • HCPC registration (required)
  • Ability to drive and travel between Carlisle and Whitehaven sites (essential)
  • Experience in both acute adult and adult community caseloads
  • Strong communication and clinical reasoning skills
