PositionCivil, Environmental, or Wastewater Design Engineer
Role summary and responsibilities are described below under the Key Responsibilities and Qualifications sections.
Key Responsibilities- Performance of engineering duties including: engineering plan and specification development; engineering calculations; hydraulic system design; engineering evaluations; development of AutoCAD design drawings; modeling of wastewater treatment systems.
- Environmental regulatory compliance functions including permitting, development of environmental plans and programs (e.g., Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, SPCC Plans); employee training programs; environmental regulatory compliance monitoring and reporting; performance of environmental compliance audits; review and interpretation of environmental laws and regulations.
- Visit client sites for meetings, data collection, observation of existing treatment systems, environmental auditing, to prepare environmental plans, engineering evaluations and other activities.
- Development of proposals for potential projects.
- Project management and coordination with clients and internal teams.
- Other professional activities as may be assigned.
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Agricultural or related field).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS and Microsoft Office.
- Possess an EIT at minimum; working toward a PE. PE is preferred.
- Project engineering and design experience in civil and environmental engineering; strong understanding of water/wastewater treatment concepts.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform field work and travel to client sites.
- Eagerness to learn new things.
- 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater treatment design and environmental regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of EPA and state environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations to stakeholders.
- Experience with proposal writing and developing project scope, budget, and schedules.
- Experience in food and agricultural processing and comfortable working with meat processing plants.
- Office setting
- Occasional field work at client locations (throughout the U.S., with concentration in the southeastern U.S.).
- May involve exposure to industrial settings, weather conditions, and physical activity (e.g., walking, climbing ladders).
