Join Spicer Group as a Client Development Professional & Civil Engineer in our Municipal Service Group.
Position SummarySpicer Group is seeking an individual with a background in civil engineering to lead efforts in managing existing projects and clients, and cultivating new business relationships within the Municipal Service Group at our growing office in northern Atlanta. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, knowledge of the surrounding communities, and municipal contacts in the greater Atlanta area.
Our Municipal Service Group plans, designs, and oversees the construction of infrastructure projects including drinking water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, and roadway improvements.
- Develop and cultivate contacts within area government and municipalities to advertise and market Spicer Group; meet with potential or existing governmental clients to foster long‑term relationships.
- Work with Spicer Group leadership to prepare and implement a regional business development plan, including cross‑selling all Spicer Group’s services with service group leaders.
- Plan for and attend public events such as conferences, trade shows, chamber of commerce events, and other client‑related functions to represent Spicer Group; these may require work beyond typical business hours.
- Involve in management and supervision of personnel including interviews, hiring, supervision, coordination, dismissal, etc.
- Attend project meetings, public hearings, and give presentations at interviews, meetings, and events as required.
- Prepare proposals on medium to large projects and take subsequent project management responsibilities including budgeting, scheduling, resource management, directing team members, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, and communicating with superiors, other consultants, and clients.
- Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach for projects and maintaining quality control for design, plans, specifications, and costs.
- Oversee report writing and production by employees.
- Make periodic visits to construction sites to review conditions.
- Exercise creative foresight and mature engineering judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Involve in resolution of design problems, including field investigations, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations performed by others.
Physical presence is an essential function of this job.
Education and Experience Requirements- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferred, but municipal government‑related education or experience is accepted.
- Registered Professional Engineer, or 8 years of progressive municipal infrastructure work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of client and project‑related experience with increasing responsibility.
