Position SummaryThis position is for a full-time Licensed Land Surveyor in any of Spicer Group's office locations. We are seeking a highly motivated individual capable of performing a variety of surveying tasks, including site and highway construction layout, MDOT design surveys, control surveys, precision industrial surveying, ALTA, and topographic surveys.

Responsibilities- Capable of working in the field and in the office using the latest robotic, GPS, and laser scanning hardware and software.
- Work as a member of a survey crew, assisting the Crew Chief when performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public, private, and governmental clients.
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, collecting data, performing calculations, and working with staff on various projects.
- Handle office tasks, including LiDAR processing, GPS/Total Station data processing, and client deliverables such as reports, maps, and quality checking.
- Read and comprehend complex instructions; perform complex mathematical computations, including least squares adjustments and data analysis.
- Perform physically demanding work in all types of weather and terrain.
- Have knowledge of, or experience with, traffic control and safety procedures for a variety of surveying and construction operations.
- Read and interpret construction plans.
- Develop grade sheets or staking files/CAD models to support construction projects.
- Apply principles of surveying and construction layout.
- Maintain professionalism on the job (e.g., attire, honesty, and respect for personal property).
- Be willing to travel locally and nationally based on project demands, with approximately 30% travel; per diem and lodging are provided for all travel assignments.
- Bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field.
- Experience working on MDOT projects (not required, but favorable).
- 5+ years of experience in surveying.
- Licensed professional surveyor or ability to become licensed per new licensing guidelines.
