Position Summary

The General Trades Technician will provide general maintenance to facilities and buildings. As a member of the maintenance team, you will check, troubleshoot, and perform routine repairs in the following areas: electrical, air conditioning, water heaters, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and other building maintenance tasks. Work may involve tight spaces and requires physical presence to meet maintenance needs.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment.
  • Respond to service requests for electrical, furnaces, lighting, HVAC systems, appliances, water heaters, disposals, plumbing & fixtures, carpentry, painting, roofing, and other maintenance items.
  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines operate smoothly and building conditions remain optimal.
  • Follow an established preventive maintenance program for heating and ventilation systems, including filter replacement.
  • Assist in emergency maintenance such as sewage back‑ups, water main or lateral breaks, fires, water leaks, and appliance repairs.
  • Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Check blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs to determine scope of work.
  • Install, maintain, evaluate, and repair facility system components.
  • Operate plant equipment and building automation systems.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in readiness for repair and maintain an accurate inventory of materials and tools.
  • Use equipment, chemicals, and personal protective equipment (PPE) safely and in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Record and interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, and sketches to gather work requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace, following all safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Handle hazardous materials in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Ensure all maintenance meets quality standards and is completed on time.
  • Be available for on‑call services as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required). Trade certification is a plus.
  • EPA certification is a plus.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of building repairs and maintenance experience (or in the specific area of assignment).
  • General knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally more.
  • Willingness to work occasional on‑call shifts.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Team‐player with strong work ethic, positive attitude, and reliability.
  • Computer literate.
  • Certifications may be required at hire or obtained within the required timeframe.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and criminal background check.
