Electrical Test Technician NETA III or IV Preferred
Join ABM Industries as an Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA 3,4 or equivalent) with our Electrical Power Services team. You will travel approximately 50% of the time, working independently and with a crew to install and test electrical power distribution equipment for customers in the assigned territory. Level 3 and 4 Technicians will also coach, mentor, train, develop, and supervise Level 1 and 2 trainees and assistants.
Payand Benefits
Base hourly rate: $65.00–$80.00. Pay varies based on experience, skills, location, and market data. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Essential Functions- Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start‑up and collect data on electrical systems.
- Supervise trainees, assistants, and technicians in completion of electrical testing duties.
- Guide, mentor, train, and supervise Level 1 and 2 certified NETA trainees and assistant technicians.
- Observe testing, assign work on projects to capable technicians, ensuring consistency across testing.
- Track project scope completion and communicate with ABM and customer management.
- Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low, medium, and high‑voltage switch gear and circuit breakers.
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
- Test and inspect low, medium, and high‑voltage cable installations.
- Maintain, test, and repair transformers and related equipment.
- Test and calibrate solid‑state and electromechanical relays.
- Perform relay calibration and power metering.
- Conduct low and medium‑voltage motor control center and contractor testing.
- Start‑up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.
- Test and commission protection and control systems on high‑voltage substations.
- Sample and interpret insulated fluids.
- Complete job hazard analyses, including arc‑flash and shock analyses.
- Review and submit timecards, expenses, and project reports.
- Document test results and complete field reports.
- Rotate emergency on‑call duty.
- Maintain strict compliance with regulatory laws.
- Assist in the sales process as the technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical testing.
- Experience working with a team on projects.
- Familiar with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
- Familiar with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical performance deficiencies.
- Ability to travel regionally 50%.
- Knowledgeable in lockout/tag‑out and hazardous energy control procedures.
- Clean driving record and committed to a drug‑free workplace.
- Hold a current NETA Level 3 or 4 or NICET equivalent, or equivalent experience.
