Copywriter (high profile action sports / brands)
This is a 12-month, full-time (Wed-Sun schedule), on-site contract role located in Cupertino, CA.
SummaryThis role focuses on crafting compelling editorial copy that supports a high‑visibility partnership. You'll contribute to the voice and tone of content surrounding major global sporting events, ensuring messaging is consistent, engaging, and aligned with broader organizational goals.
Our Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate has experience writing for Formula 1 or similar global sports coverage and brings a passion for sports storytelling with a strong foundation in editorial writing. They are proficient in crafting digital copy across channels and possess strong narrative and editorial skills. They are familiar with online content systems, digital marketing workflows, or editorial processes, and are skilled in collaborating with cross‑functional partners and stakeholders.
They can work independently and manage multiple deliverables on accelerated timelines, while remaining flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and weekend work. Strong written and verbal communication, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to think strategically and execute on an editorial vision are essential.
In this role, you will craft a range of messaging including pre‑event communications, event coverage, driver‑focused content, Grand Prix storytelling, push notifications, email marketing, and related editorial assets. You'll partner with cross‑department stakeholders to ensure stories are delivered accurately, efficiently, and aligned with brand voice. This includes managing shifting timelines, prioritizing deliverables, and communicating tradeoffs. You will also help maintain the overall editorial voice and tone for this sports partnership, supporting the team's ongoing content strategy and execution needs.
Education and ExperienceA bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or equivalent practical experience is required.
A background in editorial writing, digital content, sports media, or marketing is essential, and experience in Formula 1 or global sports coverage is preferred.
Additional RequirementsThis opportunity is located in Cupertino, CA and requires on‑site work Wednesday through Sunday.
CompensationThe pay for this W‑2 position is $78.35 per hour.
This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
